In 2025, ECT and Hyliko have joined forces to deploy the 1st hydrogen fuel cell truck dedicated to the transportation of excavated earth from the construction industry. This solution reduces transport-related emissions. It also anticipates the transition to more sustainable logistics. <\/p>

This truck meets the transport requirements of earthmoving and excavation sites. It features a reinforced chassis and enhanced suspension. The steel-reinforced front end and grille provide effective protection against impacts. The vehicle also features a protective grille, larger tires and a powerful hydraulic power pack. This enables it to tow a tipping trailer. <\/p>

Fuel cells are designated by Toyota.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The handover of the keys at Solutrans 2025 marked the launch of the partnership between Hyliko, the international transport group Mauffrey and ECT. The hydrogen-powered truck went into service in February 2025. It is being used to dig lot 3 of line 17 of the Grand Paris Express, awarded to the company Razel-Bec (Groupe Fayat). <\/p>

Operated by the Mauffrey Group, it has been integrated into the excavated soil transport logistics chain. Journeys are made between the Mesnil-Amelot pit and ECT’s excavated soil reuse site at Villeneuve-sous-Dammartin (77). <\/p>

The vehicle makes up to 10 rotations a day. This represents around 270 tonnes of soil transported daily. Over a year, this corresponds to almost 25,000 kilometers. This saves the equivalent of 26 tonnes of greenhouse gases. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Initial feedback confirms the maturity of the solution. After three months in operation, the Groupe Mauffrey and Razel-Bec teams are delighted with the reliability of the hydrogen truck. It adapts to site access constraints. Performance remains constant, even in difficult conditions. <\/p>

Feedback from drivers has been very positive. They point to improved driving comfort. Fatigue and vibrations are reduced. The truck retains its power and meets the demands of daily operations. <\/p>

Tested in real-life conditions, the vehicle meets the operational requirements of excavated earth transportation.<\/p>

ECT, Hyliko and Mauffrey demonstrate that it is possible to reduce carbon footprints without compromising performance. This solution is part of an industrial approach already underway. It is based on concrete feedback from the field. It now appears to be an operational solution. On April 16, 2026, ECT and Hyliko brought together the construction industry for a full-scale demonstration.<\/p>

This event brought the challenges of decarbonizing excavated earth transport face to face with the realities of the field. This is a constrained environment, with heavy loads, short cycles and high availability requirements. <\/p>

The Groupe Mauffrey and Razel-Bec teams shared their findings after several months in operation. In particular, they discussed the reliability of the solution in real-life conditions. <\/p>

Discussions also focused on the conditions for deploying operational hydrogen solutions. Several experts shared their analyses. Among them: Guillaume Paradis (ECT), Ovarith Troeung (Hyliko), Laurent De Ros (Toyota Material Handling Europe) and Christophe Dubruque (Lhyfe). <\/p>
