The School of horticulture (Ecole Du Breuil) and ECT sign a partnership agreement

23 septembre 2022

A partnership based on soil fertility:

On Friday, September 23, Laurent Mogno, President of ECT and Léon Garaix, Director of Ecole Du Breuil officially signed a partnership agreement between Ecole Du Breuil and ECT. This partnership has been operational since the beginning of 2022.

We are proud to partner with this magnificent school of the City of Paris, which for over 150 years has been home to one of the largest urban horticultural domains entirely dedicated to learning.

This partnership aims to help develop specific skills in the area of soils. And to allow the testing of fertile substrate solutions for market gardening with BPREA students. ECT is committed to supporting these experimental projects over the next three years and promoting the dissemination of their results, scientifically and in the field.

These experiments on fertile substrates aim to offer alternative solutions to fight against the artificialization of agricultural land and the scarcity of fertile land.

The background of this partnership:

The desire to work together stems from a conference held in March 2021 on the theme « Fertile substrate, an alternative to topsoil ». This conference provided an update on the scientific and operational state of the art of soil fertilization. In response to the accelerating demand for the vegetation of public spaces. During this event, ECT, in partnership with the City of Paris, presented the realization of a fertile substrate for an urban meadow, the purpose of the vegetal transformation of the Saint Louis esplanade, in Bois de Vincennes.

For several years, ECT has been active in this field with the production of Urbafertil, a mixture of inert soil and green waste composite.
