New stage in the rehabilitation of the former Boissy landfill site

Boissy-L'Aillerie - fin des apports de terres

In 2022, the site was one of the largest illegal landfill sites in the Val d’Oise, a major environmental issue for the prefecture. Today, the ECT rehabilitation project is making further progress. The input of inert earth from the construction and public works industry, essential for financing and carrying out this large-scale project, has been completed. Now it’s time for planting and reforestation.

An ambitious renaturation project

At the request of the Val d’Oise prefecture, ECT has designed an ecological and agricultural project to re-naturalise the site. The project is financed entirely by inert earth from the construction industry. But first, ECT will have managed the removal and sorting of over 6,000 tonnes of waste. Today, the new shape is complete: the land is ready for its new vocation. The next stage begins: reforestation and planting. 3.7 hectares will be planted with woodland, while 1.3 hectares will be given over to meadows. These developments will restore natural areas favourable to biodiversity, alongside the rehabilitation of the farmland.

Local partnerships and the circular economy of inert soils

The project is financed by the recovery of inert soil from local construction sites. This demonstrates the relevance of the circular economy of excavated soil to sustainable development projects. This transformation reflects the effectiveness of collaboration between public and private players in breathing new life into run-down areas. Thanks to the commitment of the ECT teams and their partners, the Val d’Oise is preparing to turn the page on this former landfill site. It will now be replaced by a renaturated area that will benefit the whole region.
