A social and ecological project blossoms from topsoil from construction sites

Along the Canal de l’Ourcq in Bobigny (93), a former plot of land is being brought back to life using topsoil from construction sites. The reuse of this topsoil has created a new space dedicated to urban agriculture and social interaction.

The project, called Les Jardins Mécaniques, is run by the associations Les Cols Verts and La Cantine des Femmes Battantes. It is supported by the City of Paris, the City of Bobigny and the Est Ensemble public establishment.

As part of this initiative, ECT is supplying 600 m³ of topsoil to landscape an area of 1,400 m². This contribution is in line with our circular economy approach, which aims to reuse soil excavated from construction sites to create new sustainable uses.

Installation work took place in April 2025.
