Conservation agriculture

Conservation agriculture was officially defined by the FAO in 2001 as being based on three main principles :

  • Maximum soil coverage (residues, crops or sown cover crops).
  • No tillage (only disturbance of the seed row is tolerated).
  • Diversification of cultivated species (long rotations and mixed cropping).

ECT incorporates the principles of conservation agriculture into its agricultural developments by restoring fertile soils from inert soil and fertile substrate, while promoting sustainable practices :

  • Permanent soil cover thanks to cover crops,
  • Reduced tillage to preserve biological life,
  • Crop diversification
