Lorenzo Meloni photographs the Vaujours quarry

Lorenzo Meloni, photographer and member of the renowned Magnum Photos agency, visited the underground Placo Saint-Gobain quarry in Seine-Saint-Denis (93), which has been backfilled by ECT.

This exceptional collaboration is part of Lorenzo Meloni’s personal artistic project entitled “Techno-nature”. His aim is to explore the various forms of organization, urbanization and industrialization that shape the contemporary world. Lorenzo Meloniuses his art to explore the nuances of urbanization and industrialization, and to provoke direct reflection on our relationship with nature.

Here, the photographer provides a very personal illustration of the backfilling process carried out by ECT teams. Through his lens, Meloni offers a glimpse of the interaction between the unique environment of the galleries, the machines and the drivers. His shots also reveal the special atmosphere of the underground quarry, where human activity blends with natural geology.
