Plantations sur le site de Houdain avec Nouex Environnement

At the invitation of the town hall, ECT teams met with pupils from Léon Blum elementary school to introduce them to sustainable development and biodiversity.

Schoolchildren, protagonists of their region

23 January 2025 –   60 students from the Léon Blum school planted 700 trees. They were actively involved in the planting of the new Chaussée Brunehaut park. Accompanied by teams from Noeux Environnement, they contributed to the planting of the park, which will include almost 1,500 trees. Wearing aprons and equipped with shovels, the children planted bare-root seedlings.

This initiative also gave them a better understanding of ecological environments and biodiversity.  And the importance of diversifying species for better adaptation to climate change. The  mix of forest and shrub border plants selected for the park promotes the creation of resilient wooded areas. It includes  Dog rose, hazelnut, dogwood, hawthorn, hornbeam,  blackthorn, chestnut, walnut, maple  and privet.

This convivial moment was shared with the mayor of Houdain, Isabelle Ruckebusch and the elected representatives. They joined in the activities, sharing this enriching moment with the children.

A park designed for everyone. Children immediately took to the new park, confirming that it is part of the range of green spaces that the town council wishes to offer its residents : a place for relaxation and leisure accessible to all.

Press coverage

The event also attracted the interest of the local media, with La Voix du Nord and L’Abeille de la Ternoise on hand to report on this moment of awareness-raising and conviviality, illustrating the collective commitment to sustainable development that benefits us all.
