Project presentation

In partnership with the town council of Courcelles-lès-Lens and the Communauté d’agglomération Hénin-Carvin (CAHC), this development project rehabilitates a damaged area into a landscaped park open to the public. Situated on the edge of the Gare d’Eau, this 3.25-hectare park will offer residents a relaxing and convivial setting, with walking paths, a picnic area and seating for around 500 people.

A future nature park at the Gare d'Eau

Due to the site’s industrial past, the soil will initially be covered with inert soil from local construction sites to isolate the polluted areas. A clean-up operation will also be carried out to remove the waste present, in partnership with the technical services.

Next, further inert soil will be added to shape the terrain of the future park. The project will provide residents with a new green space, ideal for strolling, with views that highlight the Water Station. It will also be ideal for events. Its design is conducive to the development of local biodiversity.

This future park is part of a circular economy approach, reusing materials from local construction sites. The first work could start as early as the second half of 2025.
