Planting the new park in Houdain (62), an educational and ecological project

At the invitation of the town hall, ECT teams met with pupils from Léon Blum elementary school to introduce them to sustainable development and biodiversity. Schoolchildren, protagonists of their region 23 January 2025 –   60 students from the Léon Blum school planted 700 trees. They were actively involved in the planting of the new Chaussée Brunehaut park. Accompanied by teams from Noeux Environnement, they contributed to the planting of the park, which will include almost 1,500 trees. Wearing aprons and equipped with shovels, the children planted bare-root seedlings. This initiative also gave them a better understanding of ecological environments and biodiversity.

Transforming a derelict site in Mazingarbe (62)

Since summer 2024, excavated soil from the construction sites of our partners – Varet Environnement, Verrier et Fils, Métropole TP, Lherbier and Briqueteries du Nord – has been helping to transform the landscape at the foot of terril 49 in Mazingarbe. The soil comes from construction sites within a 22 km radius, and is part of a circular economy. The soil is used to create an urban forest, a seed orchard and a reprofiled agricultural area, while at the same time combating the invasion of Giant Hogweed, a plant that is dangerous for local biodiversity.
