How do ECT's educational initiatives work?

This comprehensive educational experience enables children to take an active role in their local area and discover the future living spaces, parks and leisure areas created by ECT.

Education for sustainable development

Ahead of the planting, ECT employees visit partner elementary school near our sites. We present the current project to the students. We illustrate the circular economy principle behind the development: living spaces take shape thanks to the reuse of soil excavated from building sites. Finally, we explain the role of trees and biodiversity issues on the site .

 Site visits and plantings

Participating classes visit the ECT site with their teachers and parents. It’s both an educational and a sporting activity. Indeed, the notion of proximity is at the heart of the project, with all schoolchildren walking to the site.

The morning of planting takes place in 6 stages:

  • Meeting with ECT employees, presentation of the project
  • Equipping children with aprons and shovels.
  • Educational presentation on planting techniques by the ECT green-space team
  • Bare-root planting of tree seedlings or pots of plants for beds.
  • Participation  in the installation of biodegradable game protection and mulching of flower beds.
  • Sharing a snack
