Preserve existing natural environments and restore a wetland

January 2023 – The ecological zone is an integral part of the landscape, and its 3.3 ha of land will be used to recreate environments that will encourage and maintain existing flora and fauna. A mosaic of natural environments is recreated with :

  • The creation of pools and the planting of wetland vegetation such as reedbeds and alders.
  • The installation of stone hibernaculums and wooden cottages to create a habitat favorable to small reptiles, amphibians and biodiversity.
  • The creation of a meadow area and shrub hedges to promote herbaceous and semi-open environments.
These ecological features and the embankments have been recognized as a “Nature Oasis” by the Humanité et Biodiversité association.

Integration of the Roissy-en-Brie site into the Oasis Nature network

November 2022 – The Humanité et Biodiversité association has approved the inclusion of the site’s open grassland and wetland environments and wooded hillsides in the Oasis de Nature network.

A fertile plateau

June 2022 – Renapping work on the upper soil layers begins for a few months. The objective? Make the soil fertile and clean so that it can be put back to agricultural use. How? Thanks to a layer of topsoil.

Promoting ecological continuity

The agricultural rehabilitation of the site is accompanied by the creation of a freely evolving biodiversity zone in the form of a wetland where typical flora and fauna are already thriving.

Work in progress at the Roissy-en-Brie site

March 2021 – The agricultural and ecological rehabilitation of the site is financed by ECT’s recycling of inert soil from construction sites. This inert soil is used to level the ground and create the new agricultural plateau.

Opening of a new ECT site in Roissy-en-Brie

July 2020 – The purpose of reusing excavated soil is to restore and preserve a degraded agricultural environment. Prior to this, ECT cleaned the site of waste materials. The aim of this development is to restore vitality to the land. It will create an agricultural plateau and areas dedicated to biodiversity.

Improve the land's agricultural potential and recreate ecological continuity

Formerly farmland until 2010, the land is in a degraded state, causing environmental nuisance.

The rehabilitation has a triple objective:

  • Restore the site by removing waste
  • Return plots to agricultural use by creating a fertile plateau
  • Recreate true territorial coherence by reinforcing the agricultural and ecological continuities present in the commune
