World Recycling Day: 13 million tonnes of excavated soil reused by ECT by 2022

Excavated earth, a noble material

World Recycling Day is a reminder that the reuse of excavated soil from construction sites contributes to the circular economy of building waste. And transforming derelict sites into rehabilitated spaces.

The land is put to good use and self-finances undeveloped green projects. These projects are a source of life and biodiversity, bringing new uses to the land depending on the issues at stake: landscape park, woodland, sports and leisure walkways or agricultural rehabilitation.

ECT is also developing a fertile substrate, Urbafertil, a 100% local and recycled product. This substrate is made from green waste compost and inert soil. It limits the need to import topsoil, a natural resource that must be preserved.

For World Recycling Day, our land is transformed into Pantone! Photographer Gil Fornet’s pictures of the Villeneuve-sous-Dammartin site reveal the variety, colors and geology of the soil on ECT’s sites.
