MAKING MINES AND QUARRIES SAFE

There are many mines and quarries in the Île-de-France, some underground and some opencast, some still operating and others closed.

  • In opencast workings, backfilling is done to make quarries safe. This also makes it possible to create a new, safe, landscaped surface
  • In mine galleries underground, re-using materials from the sites of the construction & public works sector makes it possible to backfill, replacing the minerals that have been extracted. ECT has developed a unique expertise in the field of packing empty galleries with spoil while taking appropriate safety measures for underground working.
