Project presentation

ECT is restoring the former Houdoux quarry in Val Saint-Germain (91) to its natural state. The project aims to bring the site back to life by recreating a variety of natural environments: meadows, dry grasslands, shrub borders and wooded areas.

The rural path used by GR 11 D hikers will be preserved and will soon offer a view over the redeveloped site, allowing visitors to discover the new natural landscape.

These developments enhance the site while promoting local biodiversity. The work is carried out in compliance with environmental regulations and regulations governing the traceability of the materials used.

Les Houdoux, an ecological redevelopment underway

May 2026 : Launched at the beginning of the year, the redevelopment project for the former Houdoux clay quarry has entered an active phase.

Work is progressing with the delivery of inert soil, which serves both as the technical foundation for the site’s transformation and as a source of funding for ecological improvements.

The field teams carry out the following tasks on a daily basis :

  • Traceability and compliance of recycled inert materials
  • Ensuring the safety of transport flows and unloading operations
  • Monitoring and tracking the progress of topographic modeling

Les Houdoux, an ecological restoration project

At the former Houdoux clay quarry, the project aims to return the land to its natural state. It is part of an overall approach to restoring biodiversity. Our ambition is to recreate environments conducive to the development of local flora and fauna. Particular attention is paid to certain heritage species such as the gravelot, the whinchat and the woodlark.

Improvements to be made :

  • restoration of flower meadows
  • restoration of dry grasslands
  • restoration of shrub borders
  • woodland restoration
  • creation of an infiltration basin
