Project Overview
This park covers 400 ha. It was created from scratch and was entirely shaped by human hands. In the 1970s, landscape architects Allain Provost, John Whalley, and Gilbert Samel, at the request of the Seine-Saint-Denis department, transformed the park by creating lookouts, valleys, hillsides, and an impressive series of lakes.
The park is now designated as a Natura 2000 site. It is characterized by the diversity of its habitats: woodlands, grasslands, wild meadows, flower gardens, and lakes.
The “predecessor” of ECT managed a large portion of the soil deliveries as well as the creation of the landforms that are so characteristic of this park.

Project Lifecycle
George Valbon Departmental Park, guided tour with the park director, Benoit Pinsseau
Benoit Pinsseau introduces this large park, located in the northern part of Seine-Saint-Denis. He details the considerations that went into achieving “harmonious management” of the natural spaces. He also explains how part of the site’s vegetation was established by laying down fertile substrate as a growing medium.
